Absynthe Magazine: Alite Artifices

Wherefore does Absynthe Magazine exist? To feed the burning heart within us all; to make the yearning art, in vain, persist; to guide our blind and still unceasing crawl.

Therefore, who makes this magazine draw breath? Why, students of the written word, magic in solid form, invulnerable to death, cast spells of natures comic, or tragic.

Come closer, bright-eyed child, sit with me! Unleash your full potential, beyond wealth or fame. Prove what you can do, not for a degree, but for yourself, else risk eternal shame.

Leave reason, if thou to enter chooses; take madness, your gift from all the muses.

Absynthe is affiliated with Trent University and is based out of Peterborough, Ontario.

The Absynthe Team

remi beauchamp (they/them)

Director

remi is a Trent alum with a BA in Gender Studies. They write poetry that typically includes themes of mental health, queerness, and disability. They also write young/new adult fantasy and contemporary novels.

remi is a nonbinary demiromantic asexual person who lives with invisible disabilities (chronic pain & chronic fatigue). When they are not working on their writing, they enjoy spending time with their friends and their cats, dabbling in photography and resin art, taking care of their too-many plants, reading, and going for walks along the river.

You can find remi's poetry in absynthe issues from autumn of 2019 to early 2021.
